A large and enthusiastic Nebraska crowd was hoping to see another “YouTube moment” by the famed street fighter and now pro boxer Kimbo Slice. Earlier in the week, Kimbo stated that he wanted to bring excitement back to the heavyweights and produce exciting knockouts. Slice was able to deliver on both as he stormed out of the red corner and electrified the crowd by landing power shots to the body of Tay Bledsoe. The “YouTube” moment came as Slice landed a paralyzing overhand right to the jaw of Bledsoe which ended matters at 1:52 of the first round. The punch left Bledsoe motionless for several minutes. Slice improves to 2-0 with 2 KOs and is seeking a quick return in December.

In the co-main event, junior middleweights Abel “The Truth Serum” Perry (16-5, 7 KOs) and Patrick “One Punch” Thompson (17-17-1, 7 KOs) showed local fans why boxing is called the ‘hurt business”. After early boos by the crowd, both fighters began to open up more with Perry winning the exchanges and building an early lead on all three judges’ scorecards by scoring with lead check hooks and effective movement .In the fifth round, a clash of heads caused a clean gash to Thompson’s right eye. Thompson’s cut continued to bleed profusely but he was able to hang on and turn early boo’s into cheers. Despite the cut, Thompson adjusted his game plan and provided a gallant effort but in the end all three scorecards awarded Perry with a unanimous decision.

Undefeated and rising heavyweight prospect, Maurice “Freight Train” Byarm (13-0-1, 9 KOs) annihilated overmatched journeyman Clinton Boldridge (9-17-1, 7 KOs). Byarm jumped all over Boldridge in the first round producing two knockdowns and moments later landed a picture-perfect right hook to the chin and ending Boldridge’s night. Time of the knockout was 1:14 into the first round.

The action continued to heat up as lightweight Brandon “Pit-bull” Quintana (4-7, 4 KOs) scored a first round knockdown against late replacement, Sook Siyajuck (2-7-1, 2 KOs). Quintana finished things in the 2nd round when he landed a devastating left-right combination to the chin of Siyakuk.

In the opening bout, Nebraska fans were treated to a nice junior middleweight scrap when Sean “Hollywood” Wilson (6-6, 1 KO) scored a controversial second round knockdown and went on to survive a spirited and late rally by local fighter Reuben Rodriquez (3-7, 0 KOs). Wilson won a majority decision.
