IBF #2 middleweight Sam Soliman (41-11, 17 KOs) will clash with Giovanni Lorenzo (31-4, 23 KOs) over twelve rounds in an IBF elimination contest in Geelong, Victoria, Australia on Friday. Soliman was impressive in defeating world middleweight contenders Eromosele Albert in 2011 and Garth Wood in 2012. Soliman also holds wins over Sakio Bika, Enrique Ornelas and Raymond Joval. Lorenzo was born in the Dominican Republic but is now based in New York.. He was a Sudney 2000 Olympic representative and only losses have been to world champions Felix Sturm, Hassan N’Dam N’Jkamand split decision loss to Sebastian Sylvester.Raul Marquez outpointed Lorenzo narrowly in 2008 IBF Eliminator. In Lorenzo’s most recent contest he stopped Jeremy Yelton in one round in 2011. The winner of Soliman-Lorenzo will meet the winner of the September 1st IBF/WBA title bout between Felix Sturm and Daniel Geale in December. Promoter David Stanley.
