Solis in spotlight Saturday

Unbeaten heavyweight Odlanier Solis (15-0, 11 KOs), a big puncher who won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games, will take on Carl Drummond (26-2, 20 KOs) on a Top Rank Live! boxing card on Saturday night in Key West, Fla. Solis and Drummond will box for the WBC International Heavyweight Championship which will be televised live on Fox Sports Espanol (10 pm eastern, 7 pm pacific). As an amateur heavyweight, Solis had two wins over Cuban legend Felix Savon and stopped David Haye in the finals of the 2001 World Championships. He was born in Havana, began boxing at the age of eight and had an amateur record of 347-12. “Solis has a lot of power. We saw that when he fought recently at Madison Square Garden,” said Bob Arum of Top Rank. Solis, 29, lives and trains in Miami. He is ranked WBC #2, WBA #8 and WBO #15 at heavyweight.
