Solo Boxeo on UniMas set for debut

UniMas (formerly Telefutura), Top Rank and Tecate announced today the launch of the latest incarnation of “Solo Boxeo.” The 90-minute broadcast will air 26 telecasts live on the UniMas network on Saturdays. The series will debut tomorrow night (Saturday) beginning at midnight ET/11PM PT, from the McCallen Convention Center in McCallen, Texas, with a show headlined by undefeated top-10 contender Jose Felix Jr. risking record and rating in a 10-round lightweight bout against battle-tested Geraldo Robles.

The Solo Boxeo series will not only offer boxing action, but will allow fans to follow these fighters as they return from victories, marching up the ratings toward world title shots. Former world champions, world-class contenders, and up-and-coming prospects are scheduled to appear in future shows. The February 2013 schedule includes telecasts on February 2, February 16 and February 23.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
