In a clash of former world champions, Edgar Sosa (48-7, 29 KOs) scored an explosive second round KO over Ulises “Archie” Solis (35-3-3, 22 KOs) on Saturday night at the Centro de Usos Múltiples at the U de G in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. A crushing left hook put Solis down and out. With the win, Sosa retained his WBC silver flyweight belt and became mandatory challenger to WBC world champion Toshiyuki Igarashi. He also gained revenge for two losses to Solis early in his career.
Earlier bantamweight Alejandro “Cobrita” Gonzalez Jr (18-0-2, 12 KOs), back in the ring just three weeks after stopping Hanzel Martinez, scored a fourth round TKO over Alexander Acosta.
