Two-time world champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto arrived yesterday in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, but today he worked-out at the Gold Gym as he put the final touches in on his preparation for his Saturday night fight against former world champion Jesús “Matador” Chávez that will be televised in the United States by Top Rank pay-per-view as part of a big doubleheader championship card. Soto will take on Chavez in a 10 round lightweight bout, and Alex Valdez will challenge Nehomar Cermeno for the WBA interim bantamweight championship in the main event in Ciudad Obregon, while Kelly Pavlik will defend his WBC and WBO middleweight belts against Miguel Espino in the main event of the televised card from Youngstown, Ohio. In another televised bout, undefeated Vanes Martiroysan will take on Willie Lee in a battle for the NABF super welterweight crown.

“It’s all about staying sharp now. All of the hard work was done in Los Mochis, and now is just about staying focused and ready for what should be a good fight. Chavez was a world champion at lightweight and it will be a good test for me as I move up to challenge the champions in this division,” said Soto.

The final press conference will be tomorrow at noon, and the weigh-in will be on Friday at 3 pm and it will be open to the public.
