Spina, Del Valle battle to a draw

Light heavyweight contender Joey Spina (25-1-2, 17 KOs), rated in the top 15 by all four sanctioning organizations, was held to a majority draw by former world champion “Honey Boy” Lou Del Valle (36-6-2, 22 KOs) on Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Spina had problems with the 41-year-old Del Valle’s southpaw style. Scores were 95-95, 95-95 and 97-93 for Del Valle. Fightnews scored it for Spina 97-95.

Unbeaten lightweight Hammerin’ Hank Lundy (16-0-1, 10 KOs) annihilated Aldo “El Pato” Valtierra (25-12, 13 KOs) via KO at 2:21 of round one.

Olympian welterweight Sadam Ali (4-0, 2 KOs) outpointed Osvaldo Rivera (2-2, 1 KO) over four by scores of 40-36, 39-37, 39-37.

Unbeaten lightweight Ryan Kielczewski (6-0, 2 KOs) won a four round unanimous nod over Israel Suarez (2-3, 0 KOs) by scores of 39-37, 39-37 40-36.

Middleweight David Bauza (3-0, 3 KOs) scores a 69-second KO over Vaughn Anderson (0-2)

Light heavyweight amateur star Joe Smith, Jr. (1-0, 1 KO) was impressive in his pro debut, destroying David Brown (0-1) in round one.

Junior welterweight Edwin Soto (2-0, 1 KO) took a four round split decision over Deroy Beaton (1-1, 0 KOs). Scores 39-37, 39-37 Soto, 39-37 Beaton.
