Former world IBF jr lightweight champion Gairy St Claire (41-8-2, 18 KOs) who has lived in Australia for several years, is confident he will defeat hot Australian prospect Lenny Zappavigna (17-0, 13 KOs) when he challenges for the IBF Pan Pacific jr welterweight title at The Cube, Campbelltown, NSW, Australia on Wednesday. “Lenny has never met a boxer with my experience,” said St Claire. “I have boxed great boxers like Diego Corrales and Vivian Harris. I won the world title by defeating Cassius Baloyi in his home town in Africa. I have trained hard for Lenny and I will take him to school.” Australia’s No.1 promoter Bill Treacy said, “The Zappavigna vs St Claire bout will be a great bout. Both boxers bring a lot to the ring – Zappa looked fantastic in stopping two time world challenger Tommy Browne in 2008. Gairy will be a tough test for Lenny – he has boxed the very best featherweights and lightweights over several years. Lenny is only 21 years of age and has a big future.” Televised nationally on Foxtel Main Event Television.
