Stan Gallup passes away

We are sorry to report that Stan Gallup, 86, passed away last night at his home in Kentucky where he had recently retired. Known as “The Godfather of the Golden Gloves,” Gallup was, for half a century, an official, representative and supporter for boxing, both, in New Mexico, and worldwide. In 1964, after the Chicago Tribune pulled their sponsorship of the long-running Golden Gloves tournament, Stan started the “Golden Gloves of America Tournament,” which continues to this day.
