According to various reports, Showtime has snapped up the May 24 fight between WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson and Andrzej Fonfara that HBO was planning on airing. This likely scuttles HBO’s plans for an eventual Stevenson-Kovalev showdown. Stevenson was being developed as one of HBO’s next generation of boxing stars. He fought three times on the network in 2013 and even has a page dedicated to him on HBO’s website. However, the writing may have been on the wall when Stevenson recently signed a management deal with Al Haymon, who works primarily with Showtime.
