WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz (41-2, 23 KOs) retained his title with a points victory over game challenger Henry Weber (15-1-1, 3 KOs) in Offenburg, Germany, to set up a showdown with Mikkel Kessler on April 14 in Copenhagen. “My goal was to defend the title, I was geared up for 12 rounds and wanted to have a good performance, which I did,” said Stieglitz at the post fight press conference. “It was a hard-earned victory. Henry Weber is young and gave everything, but he still lacks the last class. Nevertheless, my respect and compliments to him. My physical condition is optimal and in the fight against Kessler I can deliver even more boxing potential. I’ll win the fight in Copenhagen!”
Promoter Ulf Steinforth added “We have big goals in the future with the mandatory defense against Mikkel Kessler in a co-promotion with Sauerland now be addressed. Later a fight between Robert and Arthur Abraham many German boxing fans would like to see. It would certainly be a boxing highlight!”
WBO/WBF/WIBF female super featherweight champion Ramona Kühne was beaming with delight after her eighth round KO over Renata Dömsödi. “I dominated the Hungarian with my punch variations, and then it was nice to win in the eighth round with a KO. Quite simply: It was really great fun!”
