Before their world championship clash on Saturday at the Erfurter Messehalle in Erfurt, Germany, WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz and his Australian challenger Nader Hamdan met the press.

Robert Stieglitz: “I am the champion and defending my title against all comers. It’s not so important whether my opponent is Groves or now Hamdan. It’s also good that Arthur Abraham wants to go against me. But, now I’m geared up 100% for Saturday and will win. After the fight we’ll see what happens.”

Nader Hamdan: “I immediately took this opportunity. I was at the end of my preparations so I know I’m in top shape. I came a long way from Australia to Germany, but the trip will not be for nothing. I’ve come to win.”

Stieglitz Trainer Dirk Dzemski: “We’ve had two weeks after the pullout of Groves to prepare for Hamdan. As a true champion, Stieglitz quickly adjusted to face this short notice task.”

Hamdan trainer Michael Akrway: “We know that Robert Stieglitz is a top champion and a really good boxer. It doesn’t matter. We’re here to win.”

Promoter Ulf Steinforth: “Nader Hamdan was fortunately in training because he had been preparing for a domestic title fight. Besides him there were other candidates, but he immediately said yes. Now all our concentration is on the fight on Saturday.”
