Talented junior lightweight Jody Stiglingh is favoured to keep his unbeaten record when he faces the unknown Kupula Mbonuama in a scheduled six rounder at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park on Tuesday night. Stiglingh who is trained by Colin Nathan has a reported record of 12-0; 7 and should have been named as Boxing SA’s prospect of the year for 2010.
He made his pro debut in September 2008 when he outpointed Sibusiso Khumalo over four rounds.
Stiglingh has won all his fights through the use of his boxing skills and the only fight in which he was extended was against Warren Joubert in November last year which he won a split decision. The fight would have been called a draw had Joubert not had a point deducted because of a head butt.
Zack Mwekassa from the DRC who is now being trained by Harold Volbrecht faces fellow countryman Alex Mbaya in a heavyweight contest scheduled for six rounds.
In another heavyweight clash scheduled for four rounds Elvis Moyo meets Kali Kelembe in a bout that should provide plenty of action while it lasts.
Other bouts: Junior welterweight, 4 rounds: Adam De Moor v Sandile Swartbooi; Lightweight: 4 rounds: Zan Jonker v Kebelo Serobi; Junior middleweight, 4 rounds: Stirling Shaw v Ruhan Grace; bantamweight, 4 rounds: Jason Kinnear v Cebo Ngema.
The tournament is presented by African Ring in conjunction Golden Gloves Promotions.
