Swiss middleweight Yves Studer (26-0-1, 6 KOs) remained unbeaten by winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Samir Dos Santos Barbosa (24-6-3, 17 KOs) of Brazil on Sunday at the Casino Kursaal in Berne, Switzerland. Barbosa was knocked down in round two. Scores were J.-F. Toupin, France (117:111), F. Guggenheim, Switzerland (116:111) and B. Hausammann, Switzerland (115:112). The contest was fought at a very high pace and was much appreciated by the full house of spectators. Studer a former European champion picked up the International Boxing Council middleweight title with the win.
