With just three days to go before their big WBA/IBF middleweight unification showdown, Felix Sturm and Daniel Geale appeared in a public workout on Wednesday at the CentrO shopping mall in Oberhausen, Germany. Both fighters gave the fans a little insight into their training routine, looking relaxed and in shape.
“I haven’t been that good in seven years. There is a huge difference between a fighter with a big mouth and a true champion. And Daniel is a true champion. He proved that before and he will try to prove it again. But I’m confident in myself and I truly believe I will unify the WBA and IBF belts”, Sturm, 33, told reporters at hand after his workout. Later, he added on his Facebook page: “I feel 30 percent better than when I fought Sebastian Zbik.”
Geale, 31, took the stage shortly before the local hero but displayed lots of confidence as well. “I have to go out there and win. I have to make sure I do it convincingly, especially if it goes down to a decision. We know he’s going to be tough, but we are covering all the bases. It’s coming at a good time. Felix hasn’t performed well recently and I feel I am improving with each fight”, the Australian told the media afterwards.
WBA champ Felix Sturm and IBF kingpin Daniel Geale will collide on Saturday at the KoenigPilsener-Arena in Oberhausen.
