Sulaiman ready for surgery at UCLA

By Gabriel F. Cordero

Mexican WBC President Jose Sulaiman is in the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel. He will shortly undergo heart surgery at UCLA Medical Center. The 82-year-old Sulaiman is accompanied by two of his six children, Lucy and Mauricio, and several grandchildren but expects all his grandchildren, fourteen in all, and six children, to be with him.

“The best medicine for these kind of things is family and of course, always trust in God,” says Sulaiman. “Two of my arteries are 80% clogged. This surgery must be done so I can feel better. There will be heart bypass. I know that everything will be fine. I have my loved ones close and that helps me a lot.” sends best wishes to Jose Sulaiman for successful surgery and a quick recovery.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
