“Summer Rumble” June 25th!

Former world title challenger “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis will face Puerto Rican veteran Doel Carrasquillo in a ten round junior welterweight bout in the main event at “Summer Rumble” on Thursday, June 25th at Schuetzen Park in North Bergen, New Jersey. The Arnaoutis – Carrasquillo bout headlines an outstanding evening of world class professional boxing presented by Pound For Pound Promotions. Tickets, starting at $35, can be purchased in advance by calling the Pound For Pound Promotions office at 201-864-9566 or 866-924-2050. Special VIP stage seats are available for $150. Schuetzen Park is located at 3167 Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen, New Jersey . Doors on the evening of the event will open at 6:30pm, with the first bell at 7:15.

Arnaoutis (21-3-2) is looking to climb back into the world rankings in 2009. The flashy southpaw, originally based in Greece, now residing in Atlantic City, New Jersey, had won all four of his bouts in 2008 before suffering a set back against Victor Ortiz on March 7th in San Jose, California.

Now residing in Lancaster, PA, Carrasquillo (12-11-1, 10 KOs) has fought twice this year, losing very close eight round decisions to world class prospects Ricardo Williams and Rashad Holloway, both fights taking place in their hometown of Cincinnati.

The co-main event features popular Bayonne, New Jersey native Bobby Rooney taking on Mexican veteran Jose Humberto Corral in an eight round light heavyweight bout.

Riding a four bout winning streak, most recently knocking out James Morrow in the second round on February 19th at Schuetzen Park, Rooney has compiled a record of (9-2-1, 5 KOs). The knockout of Morrow earned Rooney the WBF All Americas Light Heavyweight Title.

The heavy handed Corral brings a record of (17-13, 11 KOs) into the scheduled eight round bout.

Also making his return to Schuetzen Park is fan favorite, light heavyweight Jason “Monstruo” Escalera. The undefeated light heavyweight prospect will face off against Florence, South Carolina’s Joe Park in a six round bout.

Escalera has won all of his first five pro bouts by knock out, most recently knocking out Joe Njau in the first round at Schuetzen Park on February 19th.

Park brings a professional record of (8-4, 6 KOs) into the battle with Escalera.

Rounding out the undercard will be three additional four round bouts featuring undefeated newcomers junior middleweight Chris Murphy (2-0-0, 2 KOs) from Sparta, New Jersey, lightweight Chris Green (2-0-0, 1 KO) from Asbury Park and Jersey City native Patrick Farrell (2-0-0, 2 KOs) in separate bouts.

Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
