Former IBF light flyweight world champion Carlos Tamara (21-5, 15 KOs) of Colombia arrived moments ago to Cebu City, Philippines. Tamara will take on unbeaten Cebu City-based Milan Melindo (22-0, 7 KOs) this Saturday in a intriguing 10 round flyweight bout. The 22-year-old Melindo is currently one of the most promising contenders coming out of the Philippines and is world ranked by all the major world sanctioning bodies. The bout is highly anticipated in the Philippines. The 27-year-old Tamara is fresh in the minds of the Filipino boxing fans as he upset then world champion Brian Viloria this past January in the Phillipines by way of a dramatic 12th and final round stoppage. Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
