Tamara issues warning

Light flyweight contender Carlos “El Olimpico” Tamara (20-4, 14 KOs) says he’s ready to dethrone IBF junior flyweight champion Brian Viloria when they face off on January 23 in Manila. “I’m bringing my A game into this fight and I know Viloria will do the same so may the best man win. I can assure everyone that I, as well as my country Colombia, will again have another world champion. Come January 23, 2010, I will be leaving the ring that morning with the IBF junior flyweight title.” Regarding a proposed unification fight between Viloria and WBO champ Ivan Calderon, Tamara’s manager Nelson Fernandez stated “We respect and admire both champions Brian Viloria and Ivan Calderon and what they have accomplished in our business not only as professionals but also in their stellar amateur careers as well, but please don’t count your chickens before they hatch! Tamara has had a tremendous camp and is mentally, physically and spiritually ready for his world title opportunity.”

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
