Tamara vows to keep belt

Team Tamara

With less than four weeks to go before his first world title defense, IBF jr. flyweight champion Carlos “El Olimpico” Tamara (21-4, 15 KOs) tells that he has never, ever, felt better about a training camp and his preparation for his fight against IBF #6 ranked Argentinean Luis Alberto Lazarte (46-9-1, 18 KOs) on May 29th at the Club Once Unidos in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. “We have had great sparring sessions with jr. bantam Jose “Chili Willie” Rivera from the Bronx, bantamweight Raul “The Bronx Bomber” Lopez and also featherweight sensation Carlos “Mina” Zambrano. I would like to thank Everlast, Joe Grier’s Boxing Academy, my team Butch Sanchez, Angel “Pin Pin” De Jesus, my manager Nelson Fernandez and our promoter Universal Promotions of Puerto Rico for all they have done for me so far to enhance my boxing career. You have my promise that I will come back to (my adopted home of) North Bergen, New Jersey with my title after the Lazarte fight.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
