Tapia, Archuleta win in NM

From the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino showroom: Former five-time world champ  Johnny “Mi Vida Loca” Tapia (58-5-2, 30 KO’s) defeated journeyman Jose Alonso (32-16-2, 15 KOs) at 1:43 of the round fourth by TKO for a minor belt (IBC America junior lightweight title). In the co-main event, Frankie Archuleta (27-7-1, 14 KOs) won by unanimous decision over former Tapia foe Jorge Reyes ( 21-29-2, 17 KOs) with scores of 80-72 x 3 over ten rounds. In a 6-rounder at 132, Randy “Savage” Arrellin (6-3, 4 KOs) outscored Odessa, TX fighter Brandon Quintana (2-6, 2 KO’s) with scores of 60-56 x 3.  At heavyweight, Josh Lanier (1-0) decisioned Eric Saavedra (0-1) with scores of 40-35 x 3 over four rounds. In a four-round bantamweight bout, Edson Renteria (1-4) outhustled El Paso’s Wesley Marquez (0-1) with scores of 40-36 x 3.  In a 4-round light-heavyweight bout, Charles “The Beast” Alderete (1-0) made his pro debut, defeating Derrick Casaus (0-1) with scores of 39-36, 39-37, 39-36.
