German Titov, 2007/2008 Russian promoter of the year, has reached a promotional deal with 2008 Beijing light welterweight gold medalist Felix Diaz, 25, of the Dominican Republic. The recent pro debutant, who quickly stopped Mexican Hugo Pacheco (3-7, 3 KOs) in his first and only fight in the paid ranks this June, scored a highly controversial decision over Frenchman Alexis Vastine in semifinals of the last Olympics, but sensationally upset the odds by schooling famed Thai Manus Boonjumnong in the final. “Yes, I can confirm that we signed an agreement with Felix Diaz,” commented Titov to this reporter. “Felix will be a marvelous addition to our team and we hope to see him making a huge and long-lasting impact on the international fight scene in several coming years. Diaz will continue to fight overseas, in America, but I plan to have him fighting in Russia, maybe one-two times a year, as well.” Diaz will be the second Beijing medalist to sign a contract with German Titov and his partners; the first one being Ukrainian super heavyweight Vyacheslav Glazkov, who made his debut about a month ago.
