Thai Promoter and Philanthropist Naris Singwangcha, who has been helping Filipino boxers for almost a decade extends 4 million Philippine Pesos of financial aid to Filipino boxers affected by super typhoon Yolanda (haiyan). The Philippine Games and Amusement Board has identified boxers from Leyte, Samar and Cebu who will qualify to receive said financial aid. So far, 80 boxers have been listed.
Mr. Singwangcha himself will hand out the money to each boxer on January 11, 2014 during a boxing event in Angono, Rizal which will headline former WBC/Ring Magazine Flyweight Champion Sonny Boy Jaro.
“Filipino boxers are like my children. They have always been close to my heart. I love seeing them fight because they are true warriors just like Mexicans. I have been working with Filipino boxers and promoters for almost a decade and I feel like I am already a Filipino. The aftermath of the super typhoon broke my heart. I felt very worried and sad when I saw the devastation on the TV news. I never doubted that I will do something for my beloved Filipinos. Being a boxing patron, I decided that the best concrete step is to reach out to the affected boxers. It is my joy and honor to be of help to Filipino boxers. As long as I live, I will always keep on helping deserving Pinoy boxers”, Sinwangcha told fightnews.com in conclusion.
