Finally! NYSAC approves Antonio Margarito to fight in MSG on December 3 against Miguel Cotto

By Karl Freitag

The New York State Athletic Commission meeting in New York City to determine Antonio Margarito’s licensing status, originally scheduled for 2PM, finally began at 4PM. The NYSAC commissioners immediately went into a private executive session for one hour and forty-five minutes, after which it was announced that Antonio Margarito WILL BE licensed to fight against Miguel Cotto on December 3 at Madison Square Garden.

Margarito was forced to break camp in Mexico to fly to New York City to be examined by NYSAC-appointed ophthalmologist Dr. Michael Goldstein, who determined that Margarito faced no undue risk, in agreement with Margarito’s doctors.
