The final press conference for Saturday’s pay-per-view showdown between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez took place today in the MGM Grand’s KA Theatre, located on the casino floor across from the Wolfgang Puck Cafe.

Canelo took the dias first and was disappointingly brief in his comments, speaking just 41 seconds. He thanked various people, stated he had great preparation and vowed to be victorious.

Floyd’s talked for 2:20, and in addition to the obligatory ‘thank yous,’ he stated “I’ve been here before, so I know what it takes. A guy, 42-0, he hasn’t faced 42 Floyd Mayweathers because he’d be 0-42. I don’t worry about who he has faced. Whatever any fighter can do good, I can do great. I was born to be here. I was born to be at this level. I’m at the pinnacle. I’m the face of boxing and I’m dedicated to my craft. It took hard work, prayers and dedication, and a good team.

“…September 14 is just another stepping stone, just another opponent to me. He knows he’s facing Floyd Mayweather, I’m facing just another opponent.

“…I’m dedicated. I’m hungry. September 14, it’s same old thing. No matter what’s the game plan. If the game plan is to keep pressure, I know how to handle it. If the game plan is to box, can’t nobody outbox me. You have to be able to outmatch me mentally and I’m the strongest mental fighter in the sport of boxing!”

Both fighters were cordial during the face-off for photographers.
