Will “Wild Will” Tomlinson weighed 129.4 pounds and Daniel Ruiz weighed 129.8 pounds for Friday’s IBO world title bout in Melbourne Australia. Tomlinson (18-0, 12 KOs) will challenge for the vacant title against Mexico’s Daniel “Canerito” Ruiz (27-4-1, 19 KOs) over twelve rounds. Ruiz resides in Los Mochis Sinaloa, Mexico and Tomlinson resides in Sydney, Australia. Both boxers stand 5’7 and box from the orthodox stance.
Officials for the IBO title bout are referee Steve Smoger (USA) judges Gary Dean (Australia), Steve Scott (New Zealand), Glenn Feldman (USA) and supervisior Phil Austin (Australia).
Ruiz’ most recent bout was a ten round decision over Mario Perez in February. He has dropped decisions to Alan Herrera in 2008 and Logan McGuines in 2011. He was stopped by Joksan Hernandez in 2010 and Miguel Roman in 2009.
Tomlinson’s most recent win was over Alan Herrera in November by twelve round decision.
Main supporting bout light heavyweight Blake Caparello (11-0-1, 5 KOs) will clash with Robert Berridge (15-0-1, 11 KOs) over ten rounds. Former WBA rated light heavyweight Joel Casey (15-9-3, 10 KOs) will be in action against former Australian cruiserweight champion Brad “Hollywood” Pitt (12-0, 10 KOs) over six rounds.
