Top N.M. prospect arrested

Undefeated Austin Trout, of Las Cruces, N.M., was arrested early Saturday morning, and charged with residential and auto burglary. The owners were awakened by the sounds of someone in their house, shortly after 4 a.m. When the husband went downstairs to investigate he looked outside the house where he discovered Trout sitting inside his car. Trout took off but was located by police a short while later, carrying several items taken from the house. Trout, 18-0, 13 KOs, had just won a minor belt and was on the verge of cracking top ten contention in the WBA’s junior middleweight division. He was also a 2004 USA Boxing national amateur champion. – Chris Cozzone
