Top Rank inks Benavidez

Top Rank President Todd DuBoef announced today at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, the official signing of amateur standout Jose Benavidez, of Phoenix, Ariz.  Trained by Freddie Roach, Benavidez is the 2009 Golden Gloves National jr. welterweight champion and compiled a record of 120-5 as an amateur. Benavidez will make his pro debut on the Martirosyan-Ouma card Saturday night, against Steven Cox (1-0, 1 KO), of Independence, Mo.
