“Tornado” Sanchez wins WBA interim belt

Super flyweight David “Tornado” Sanchez (25-3-2, 19 KOs) claimed the WBA interim super flyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Breilor “Zulianito de Oro” Teran (15-9-1, 6 KOs) on Saturday night at the Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana. Scores were 116-111 on all three cards. Sanchez dropped Teran in round eleven.

In a women’s world title fight, the “Aztec Princess” Jackie Nava (29-4-3, 13 KOs) dethroned WBA female super bantamweight titleholder Alys Sanchez (12-2-1, 4 KOs) by seventh round KO.

Former world champion Edgar Sosa (50-8, 30 KOs) scored his milestone 50th win, overwhelming Omar Salado (24-8, 15 KOs), who was not allowed to come out for round five.
