Torres defeats Nava in war

In a hotly anticipated rematch, with the WBC female diamond belt on the line, Ana Maria ‘Guerrera’ Torres (26-3-3, 15 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Jackie ‘La Princesa Azteca’ Nava (24-3-3, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at the Metropolitan Arena in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico.
In a grueling an bloody all great action fight, the courage, determination and fighting spirit of Torres brought her the world WBC bantamweight diamond championship. It was a battle without quarter, of alternating domain, which began with the mastery of Jackie. However, as the bout progressed the Aztec Princess gradually began losing ground, and it was in the last two rounds that she lost the battle. Scores were 96-94 for Torres on all cards.
