Trout defeats Lopez

WBA super welterweight champion Austin Trout won a twelve round unanimous decision over David “The Destroyer” Lopez to retain his title on Saturday night at the Auditorio Miguel Barragan in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Scores were 119-109, 117-110 and 118-109, all in favor of Trout.

In the co-feature, former Mexican Olympian Arturo Santos outpointed Alexander Espinoza over nine rounds to claim the Fedecaribe featherweight belt. Scores were 90-82, 90-71 and 87-84.

Flyweight prospect Rogelio Romero scored an eighth round knockout over former world title challenger Eric Ramirez.

WBC female super flyweight champion Ana Maria Torres defeated Vanessa Guimaraes by fourth round knockout to retain her world championship.
