Undefeated Caleb Truax (14-0) pounded out a hard fought unanimous decision over Kerry Hope (12-2) on Friday night at the Saint Paul Armory in Minnesota. Truax and Hope engaged early and often with most of the action taking place in the center of the ring. Truax was on top of his game in the early to mid rounds as he landed sharp and accurate counter punches to the head and body that shook Hope on more than one occasion. Undeterred, Hope pressed forward like a machine although not having quite the same success. Hope’s relentless pressure began to pay off however, by round seven as Truax began to backpedal and drop his punch output. Hope continued to bring the fight to Truax going into an all action round ten which saw both fighters brawl until the final bell. Judges saw it unanimously in favor of Truax by scores of 97-93 on all cards. Truax takes home the WBF International super middleweight title with the victory.

In other action, heavy handed Mohammed Kayongo (15-2-1) stopped tough as nails brawler James Todd (2-2-1) at 2:35 of the third round. The bout was fought at a furious pace while it lasted as Todd marched forward from the opening bell bringing relentless pressure to the fleet footed Ugandan born Kayongo. Kayongo appeared unfazed and glad to trade punches as he unleashed heavy countering uppercuts to the head and body of his own. Kayongo had a small edge in the early exchanges but it seemed like he was tempting fate by brawling and playing into Todd’s game. Todd continued to pressure and land clean punches as he targeted Kayongo late in round two but walked into a perfectly timed right to the jaw that sent the Wales fighter to the canvas as his mouthpiece was sent flying. Todd was able to regain his footing and finish the round but didn’t seem the same after the knockdown. Todd continued to chase his opponent in round three despite being on shaky legs as Kayongo was beginning to land at will. A left-right to the head had Todd hurt and staggering as referee Mark Nelson jumped between fighters to end the fight. Kayongo wins the IBA Americas junior welterweight title with the victory.

Michael Faulk (2-0) won a heated four round decision over Ryan Soft (1-1-1) in a middleweight bout. Scores read 40-36, 39-37, 39-37 in favor of Faulk.
