Barring organizers sneaking in some obscure four-rounder, the first televised fight of 2014 will feature Minnesota middleweight Caleb Truax (23-1-1, 14 KOs) taking on veteran Ossie Duran (28-11-2, 11 KOs) in a ten rounder at the Target Center in Minneapolis on ESPN2’s first Friday Night Fights telecast. With original opponent Derek Ennis forced to withdraw, Duran says he’s more than ready to step in and halt the momentum of the streaking Truax. “It means a lot to be fighting at home in front of family and friends,” said Truax. “My fight is going to be a battle against an opponent who wants nothing more than to make a name for himself. I will be ready for anything he has to offer.”
The main event is an IBF super featherweight championship fight between champion Argenis Mendez (21-2-1, 11 KOs) and #1-ranked undefeated challenger Rances “Kid Blast” Barthelemy (19-0, 12 KOs).
