Canadian (NCC) Middleweight champion Adam “A-Bomb” Trupish punished Larry “Razor” Sharpe throughout the course of their encounter last night in Edmonton, Alberta, finally stopping the Manitoban fighter at 1:03 of the 10th and final round. Trupish (7-0, 4KOs) dropped Sharpe in rounds 3, 7 (with a punishing body shot), and finally for good in round 10. The bout was originally to be a title defense for Trupish’s Middleweight crown but when Sharpe (25-9, 12KOs) weighed in slightly over the limit, the promoter and the National Championship Committee agreed to stage the contest for the vacant 168 divisional title. With the victory, Trupish, a two time Canadian Olympian, wins his second professional title.
Other winners on the undercard had undefeated Super Featherweight CJ Borden (3-0, 2KOs) winning a 5 round unanimous decision over Everett, Washington’ s Josh Dahl (2-2). Dunnville, Ontario’s Jeremy Abbott (2-1, 1KO) upset Brad Marks (4-2, 3KOs), stopping the Edmonton Lightweight at 1:07 of the 4th round. Edmonton’s Jonathan Andre won his debut with a 2nd round stoppage of Todd Furler (0-3-1) of Calgary. Lee Laquette improved to 2-0 (1 KO) by halting Jamie Taylor in round 3.
