Tyson Marquez to give up WBA title?

By Gabriel F. Cordero

WBA flyweight world champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (33-2, 25 KOs) will next take a ten round fight against Filipino Fernando Lucamad (26-3, 11 KOs) at the Palenque de la Feria Ganadera in Culiacan, Sinaloa on July 14 in an event organized by Zanfer Promotions and broadcast by TV Azteca. That fight has been announced as super flyweight title eliminator. Meanwhile, the WBA has called off a purse bid for a fight between Marquez and WBA interim titleholder Juan Carlos Reveco and Hernan Marquez to unify the title. One source has indicated that there is the possibility that Marquez will renounce to WBA flyweight world title.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
