Aware of what is the biggest fight of his career, WBA flyweight world champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez has spent the last two seeks at training camp in Oxnard, California, with trainer Robert Garcia. Marquez (34-2-1, 26 KOs) will unify the world title with WBO champion Brian Viloria (31-3-0, 18 KOs) on September 29, tentatively at Home Depot Center in Carson, California, in co-promotion of Zanfer and Top Rank. “It will be the best preparation of my career. I have a very professional multidisciplinary team, I have engaged well with Robert Garcia and his team, we are training hard doing interesting things. I have also developed a strategy and we are working in the gym” said the 23-year-old Marquez.

Fully recovered from the injury he suffered in his right foot on his most recent fight last July, when he beat Fernando Lumacad, Márquez started well his training very motivated and convinced that on September 29th he’ll be a unified world champion.

“I have been feeling great with Robert Garcia, there is a great atmosphere with his team and with all the excellent fighters like Brandon Rios, Maidana, Pavlik and all other boxers who train at Robert’s gym. I’m motivated and have everything I need here in Oxnard, there is no doubt it will be a great camp,” said Marquez.

He added: “We have the strength, style and speed to beat Viloria, whom we greatly respect and recognize his talent. We will step into the ring with great pace and power, there is no doubt that this fight will be a war because Viloria is also brave, but I will win and stop his winning streak over Mexicans,” said Marquez about Viloria, noting that throughout his career, “The Hawaiian Punch” has beaten 19 fighters from Mexico.

For Marquez has been a very helpful, comfortable and convenient camp in Oxnard, with the possibility of training both at high altitude and the beach, and working with sparring partners that fit the style of Viloria.

“This fight is for Mexico, I have been looking for this opportunity for a long time and now it will be very special because it will be a champion against champion, and that is what the people of Mexico will be aware of and I hope for their support and good vibes to achieve a strong and historic triumph,” said Tyson.

Marquez has entered the third out of five weeks of strong preparation.
