Unbeaten super featherweight Miguel “El Alacran” Berchelt (19-0, 16 KOs) scored a spectacular second round KO win over Filipino Weng Haya (17-6, 9 KOs) on Saturday night at the Complejo Deportivo Inalambrica in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Haya, who had then-WBO champion Orlando Salido on the deck twice in December 2011, was supposed to be the toughest opponent of Berchelt’s career. However, Berchelt simply overpowered Haya, putting hiom on the deck in both rounds one and two. Time was 2:57.

In other action, super middleweight Jose “Barretas” Pinzon put Roberto “Hercules” Valdez down five times in a two round blowout and jr welterweight Silverio “Chamaco” Ortiz won a ten round unanimous decision over Jesus “Pantera” Gurrola.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
