Unbeaten jr welters collide

Undefeated junior welterweight rising stars; Frankie Gomez (10-0, 8 KOs) of East Los Angeles, California and Chicago’s Adrian “EL Tigre” Granados (6-0-1, 4 KOs) will clash in the eight round main event on Friday, August 26th at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion. Just 19 years old, the heavy-handed former amateur standout Gomez has impressively won his first ten professional bouts, eight by knockout since turning professional in April of 2010. Granados, who has trained with legendary boxing brothers Juan Manuel and Rafael Marquez and their Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain, has previously drawn huge crowds at the UIC Pavilion. The bout will be televised on Telefutura.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
