Undefeated Molina, Staal vie for Ohio State title

By Bob Ryder

Purgatory Fight Series (Joe Bridenbaugh, Fred Vallejo, Marty McManus) returns to Toledo’s Grand Plaza Hotel this Saturday night with a fight for the vacant Ohio State 168 pound crown in the main event. Ohio native and local favorite Masedonio “Nune” Molina will cross gloves with southern Michigan resident Lane “The Pain” Staal for the vacant title. Last December’s pairing at this same venue with two young unbeaten boxers headlining produced a war with Molina prevailing over Wade Tolle, Jr. and the promotion is primed to give the fans another exciting contest with this match up. Molina is (6-0, 6 KOs) while Staal will come in at (9-0, 4 KOs).

Other scheduled bouts under the Purgatory FS13 Fight Series banner for this April 27 show:

Antonio Urista of Lansing makes his professional debut against Anthony Kelly of Toledo.

Thad Burkhausen, Saint Johns, MI vs. Steve Cotterman, Findlay, OH

Drew “All Day” Morais, Monroe, MI vs. Bryan Smith, Toledo

Amateur standout Carlos Suarez of Lima, OH takes on Toledo’s Joe Bush with both making their pro debuts.

Also scheduled to compete with opponents TBA are local favorites Paul Parker, Wesley Tucker, and Tim Washington.

Tickets for Purgatory FS13 start at $25 and can be purchased by phone at 419-244-4400.

Doors: 6:30pm, First Bell: 7:30pm.
