Universum hires new head trainer

Universum Box-Promotion has hired American trainer Anthony Brooks to replace departing Michael Timm as the company’s head trainer. Brooks will work with middleweights to heavyweights. Universum Managing Director Waldemar Kluch plans to bring in another trainer to work with lighter fighters.

In other Universum news, Kluch ripped former Universum chief Klaus-Peter Kohl, claiming he was cheated by Kohl when he purchased the promotional company. Kluch doesn’t want to pay the final installment of the agreed purchase price, whereas Kohl insists on the full amount. “If we don’t come to an agreement it goes to court and then Mr. Kohl has to go to jail,” Kluch told the Hamburg Abendblatt.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
