2008 Olympic heavyweight gold medalist and amateur standout Rakhim Chakhkiev has inked a promotional contract with Universum Box-Promotion. Chakhkiev will join the training group of famed Universum trainer Michael Timm at the Universum Gym in Hamburg, and will campaign as a pro in the cruiserweight division. “We simply had to get this Olympic champion,” said Universum Promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl. “With Rakhim Chakhkiev we have a hard-hitting southpaw who boxes very attractively with a technically excellent and aggressive style. In several conversations, Rakhim Chakhkiev persuaded us with his positive personal qualities, his unconditional will and his readiness for duty. We see in him a special boxer with big hopes and a lot of potential in the cruiserweight division.“
