Update on Vitali Klitschko’s injury

WBC World Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko suffered a partial tear of a ligament in his left shoulder when he successfully defended his title against Dereck Chisora on Saturday night in Munich, Germany. Klitschko underwent an MRI on Sunday and further medical examinations on Monday. Besides the ligament, a nerve in his shoulder was affected in round three. As a result, he was not able to use his left hand as he wanted to. First fears it could have been the same shoulder ligament that tore apart and made him stop the fight against Chris Byrd in 2000 have not been confirmed. Klitschko will have to pause for 6 to 8 weeks before he can get back into full training. Despite the injury, Klitschko had dominated the fight against Chisora and won by unanimous decision.
