Veteran heavyweight Sherman “Tank” Williams (35-11-2, 19 KOs) of the Bahamas upset WBC #5, WBO #8 rated Chauncey Welliver (53-6-5, 20 KOs) from the state of Washington moments ago at the Grand Waldo Conference & Exhibition Centre in Macau, China. Scores were reported at 115-112 and 119-110 for Williams while the third judge had it 114-114. Williams is managed by well respected Florida Keys businessman Si Stern who also manages newly crowned IBF world welterweight champion Randall Bailey who recently upset Mike Jones. “It has been a very good last few weeks for my fighters. This is a major win for Sherman and well deserved. This is the best shape he has been in for quite some time and it showed at the weigh-in yesterday and in this fight tonight. Sherman staggered him several times durring the fight and deserved this win. Welliver entered this bout ranked as high as #5 in world by one major sanctioning body. This opens up major opportunites for Sherman now including a return to China as they love him here now,” said Stern.
