One of the most respectful and reserved champions in boxing today, IBF junior welterweight champion Juan Urango is not one for boasting or pre-fight trash talking. But when he moves up to the welterweight division to take on reigning WBC titlist Andre Berto in a highly-anticipated battle of champions at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on May 30th, he is confident that he will leave the ring with the 147-pound title. “I’m ready for war on May 30th, and that’s what I’m bringing against Berto,” said Urango from training camp. “I have a lot of respect for him and his championship, so that’s why I am coming in more prepared than I’ve ever been, and I am certain I will take the title from him.”
Berto vs Urango is presented by DiBella Entertainment and Seminole Warriors Boxing and will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark beginning at 9:45 pm ET / 6:45pm PT. In the televised co-feature, junior middleweight knockout artists Alfredo Angulo and Kermit Cintron will slug it out, but after they do, the stage will be set for a bout many are calling a Fight of The Year candidate.
“I’m happy that the fans are excited about this fight and that they’re supporting it, and I’m certain we’re going to give them exactly what they’re waiting for,” said Urango, 21-1-1 with 16 KOs. “Berto and I are true warriors, and when the bell rings we’re going to meet in the center of the ring and see who the better man is that night. I’m confident and doing everything possible to make sure that I will be that man.”
