The IBF/USBA has notified the camps of USBA light heavyweight champion Yusaf Mack and top rated Cedric Agnew they have 30 days to come to an agreement. At stake is the mandatory defense of Mack’s United States Boxing Assn. title. Both parties have 30 days to come to an agreement or it will order a purse bid.
Agnew’s promoter, Garrett Promotions director of boxing Malcolm Garrett says, “Agnew welcomes the opportunity to put his unblemished 25-0 record to the test. Yusaf Mack is a solid world rated fighter who sports a very respectable record of 31-5-2. Mack’s only losses came at the hands of five of the Worlds best, Carl Froch, Travois Cloud, Glen Johnson, Librado Andrade, and Alejando Berrio. That’s like the “Who’s Who of the LH and SM division. Mack’s wins over Omar Sheika, Cris Henry, Otis Griffin,Danial Judah, and other respectable fighters show just how dangerous Yusaf really is. Both Agnew and Mack are world rated, and both need to win to remain so. Mack is a tough Philadelphia fighter, and always comes to fight, he brings a lot of tools and experience to the fight. Agnew a former Chicago amateur standout, will be up for the challenge and will bring his A game.”
Spokesperson for Yusaf Mack, Percy Custus has been in talks with Garrett Promotions and says Yusaf will do what he has to do to turn back the challenge of Agnew.
Garrett says negotiations are ongoing and hopes to have an agreement in place soon for the two fighters to meet. “We are talking to several TV outlets and hope to be able to secure a date between two of the United States best light heavy fighters in a fight that the fans will surely be the winner.”
