Ustinov, Uzelkov speak

By Alexey “Oscar” Potapov

EBA (European Boxing Association) heavyweight champion Alexander Ustinov (20-0, 16 KOs) and WBA light heavyweight mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Uzelkov (22-0, 14 KOs) were the featured guests on the Internet-TV “RingSide Show” hosted by Fightnews.com writer Alexey “Oscar” Potapov. Ustinov will face Paolo Vidoz (26-8, 15 KOs) on June 26th at the Sportpalace in Odessa, Ukraine) while Uzelkov will challenge WBA light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov (9-1, 6 KOs) on July 24th at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, California.

“After I knock out Vidoz, I want to fight WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitchko,” Ustinov said. “Yes, he’s my promoter, but I want this fight. I’m ready to become the world champion!”

Uzelkov said, “The fight against Shumenov will be a serious test for me, but I am sure that I’ll knock him out. The Kazakh needed the judges in the fight against Gabriel Campillo, whom I knocked out easily. In a fight with me, the judges will not help Shumenov. He won’t complete of twelfth round.” More to come.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
