Venezuelan superstar Edwin Valero arrived today in Venezuela where he was received by hundreds including representation from the government, the Department of Sport, and the press, alongside family, friends and fans. In his long-awaited return to a U.S. ring, Valero impressively won the WBC lightweight world title by blasting out Antonio Pitalua in two rounds. He is now 25-0, winning them all by knockout. “I feel very happy,” said the champion. “Thanks to my work and effort, I managed to do well and I dedicate this triumph to Venezuela. I also aspire to continue giving triumphs to Venezuela, as well as supporting and being example for the youth.” Valero said he’s targeting WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Márquez and P4P king Manny Pacquiao although the latter would require going up to a higher weight category. Valero will return to the U.S. for his next fight on July 25th.
