Former WBO super bantamweight champion and Son of a Legend Wilfredo “Papito” Vazquez (23-3-1, 19 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over previously undefeated prospect Guillermo “Borrego” Avila (13-1, 8 KOs) on Friday night at the Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, Florida. It was a very tough fight for WV2 as Avila brought the pressure and mostly gave as good as he got. Scores were 116-112 on all cards as WV2 claimed the vacant World Boxing Organization International super bantamweight title.
Also on the card, Wilfredo Vazquez’ younger son Israel “El Heredero” Vazquez (9-0-2, 6 KOs) scored a six round unanimous decision over Felipe Rivas in a jr. flyweight bout. Scores were 58-56 and 60-54 twice.
