Vazquez hits 50

Former three-time WBA world champion Wilfredo Vazquez hits the big “50″ today. Fightnews.com, All Star Boxing, Inc and the Zabala Family would like to wish “Papa” Vazquez a very Happy Birthday. Wilfredo won three world titles in different division, all with the same organization, the WBA. He won the bantamweight, super bantamweight and featherweight world titles, retiring in 2002 after four straight wins. Currently he has guided his son Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. to win the WBO super bantamweight title, becoming the first father and son combination to win titles and the same weight division. Junior will soon announce his next title defense scheduled for October 16 at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmeee, FL.
