All Star Boxing, “The New Generation,” Tuto Zabala Jr. and the Telemundo Network returns with their successful series “Boxeo Telemundo,” Friday, July 17, 2009 from the Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, FL. This marks the 8th year of the series at the popular Central Florida venue. In the main event, local idol Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. will defend his WBO Latin super bantamweight title against the toughest opponent in his young career when he faces veteran Cecilio “Boga” Santos in a clash schedule for 12 rounds.
Vazquez Jr., of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, who will make his twelfth appearance at the Kissimmee Civic Center, is currently ranked #9 WBO, #12 WBA and #22 WBC and is undefeated with a record of (15-0-1, 12 KOs).
Santos on the other hand is no stranger to the Civic Center, on July 21, 2006 he took a majority decision in hostile territory from former Olympian and local favorite Omar Adorno to win the WBO Latin title that Vazquez holds today. The experienced Santos who also was the IBA World, WBC FECARBOX , WBA FEDECENTRO champion and a veteran of 4 world title challenges, having fought for the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF belts, holds a record of (23-10-3, 13 KOs). He has also been on the “Boxeo Telemundo” series 7 times having lost only 2 times.
